About Us - Nazine Alice Designs

Slow fashion produced product:

Simply defined as the opposite of fast fashion, slow fashion opts for a more sustainable approach to making clothes. Specifically, it hones in on reducing both consumption and production. Nazine Alice Designs is a handmade based design and sewing business which values quality, longevity and passion within its products.

Brand History:

The aim of Nazine Alice Designs is to create unique alternative gothic clothing, accessories and homeware items for other spooky people to enjoy! The brand values include sustainability, inclusivity, and excellent customer service. We are always look for ways to improve our service and knowledge.

I was still in university studying costume and performance design at Arts University Bournemouth when Nazine Alice Designs began in October 2020. I was making Halloween themed facemasks during the pandemic as a side hustle to help fund the costs of being a student. I was in my final year of my course, and as much as I loved designing and making costumes, the lifestyle of a costumer just wasn't for me; I became more interested in making myself a brand.

Nazine Alice Designs is still very much growing and expanding over time. It is harder now more than ever for small brands as we are currently going through a cost of living crisis and recession. This means that every order made reminds us that what we are doing is worth it for the customers who are able to purchase during this time. I am very grateful for any and all support you can give!

To the reader/ customer who has taken time to read this, I would like to wish you a good day!
Thanks Again

Nazine's Creative History:

As the youngest of three sisters I had a lot to look up to when I was growing up; all three of us are artists and this is where our shared passion has made us a great team. We support each other in our different, but creative based, careers. Click Here to read an article written about us. My oldest sister Melissa-Ann  Burns is a tattoo artist, and my second oldest sister Louise Maddison is a secondary school art teacher, both based in Kent.

What has inspired me from a young age is fantasy, oddity and bizarreness which stemmed from my love of movies, music and alternative fashion icons. I have been drawing since I was a child, and I am self taught in many of my creative techniques. However, my education has helped me develop and explore my skills further. The first instance where I became interested in clothing designing and making was when I was 15 and created my first cosplay costume for MCM London Comic Con. I soon decided that Arts University Bournemouth was my university of choice to study Costume and Performance Design where I have been trained to design and execute garment and clothing ideas. I graduated July 2021 with a first class honors bachelors degree which is an achievement I will always be proud of.
